Iran's General Soleimani Warns against American's Extensive Presence in Region

Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Quds Force Commander Major General Qassem Soleimani warned of the Americans' extensive presence in the regional states in the forms of military, security and political institutions.

AhlulBayt News Agency - Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Quds Force Commander Major General Qassem Soleimani warned of the Americans' extensive presence in the regional states in the forms of military, security and political institutions.

"Today, we are witnessing that the Americans have the largest volume of presence and attention to the region and in the current conditions, the highest number of the US political and security institutions are stationed in the region. The highest number of the US armed forces, equipment and weapons are in this region and the US diplomats make the most visits and the highest number of countries dependent on the West are in this region and we should realize its reason," General Soleimani said, addressing a forum in the Central city of Qom on Monday.

Noting that the Americans believe that the Islamic Revolution has affected their power in the entire world, he warned, "Therefore, they seek collapse of the Islamic Revolution."

General Soleimani blamed Washington for the events in the past 20 years in the region, and said, "The Americans pursued different ways, including fomenting clashes and tribal wars, but we are still witnessing that the Islamic Republic of Iran has gained victory in war against the Takfiris."

He referred to the ISIL attacks on Syria, and said, "If the Islamic Iran had not helped protect the government in Syria, today the ISIL would have earned a ruling over the entire parts of the country."

In relevant remarks in 2014, Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Navy Rear Admiral Ali Fadavi said security in the Persian Gulf can only be established by the regional countries and deployment of the US and its allies' forces in the region has provoked insecurity.

"The presence of the US and the arrogant powers creates insecurity in the Persian Gulf since they are after their arrogant goals which are in opposition to the interests of the regional people," Fadavi told reporters in Tehran.

Stressing that security of the Strait of Hormuz should and can only be established by the regional states, he said, "The capability of the IRGC Navy is also playing a highly special role in the establishment of security in the Strait of Hormuz."

Also last year, Secretary of Iran's National Security Council Ali Shamkhani underlined that the ISIL is a US protégé, serving Washington's long-term interests in the region.

"The US is not seeking destruction of the ISIL, but it is using the terrorist group as a publicity tool to legitimize its long-term presence in the Middle East and the Muslim states," Shamkhani said in a meeting with Head of the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq (ISCI) Ammar al-Hakim in Tehran.
